Frosty Summer Treats

Summertime is here and that means it’s time to enjoy some ice-cold frosty treats. Something delicious that will cool you off after playing in the hot sun or spending the day at the beach. And what better kind of frozen treat then one you make yourself?

All of these chilling desserts or snacks are simple to make. Some will be easier to make if you have a blender. Our family recommends the In2uitive Blender by Oster. It is very kid (and parent) friendly and easy to use.

So gather up your friends, get out the pool and share some slushy treats.

Apple Snow

You will need:

  • 1 1/2 cups (c.) Apple Juice

  • 1 Tablespoon (tbsp.) Honey

  • 3 cups cracked ice

Put all ingredients inside the blender and blend until it looks like apple snow.  Eat with a spoon.

Servings – 2

·        Blue or purple juice (blue Kool Aid, grape, blue raspberry)

·        White or yellow juice (lemonade, grape, peach)

·        3 oz. paper cups

·        Popsicle Sticks

Set your paper cups onto a cookie sheet. Fill the cup 1/3 full with red. Put in freezer for 2-3 hours until half frozen, like slush. Remove from the freezer and put a Popsicle stick into the center of each cup of juice. Now fill up the cup another 1/3 with the white or yellow juice. Repeat the steps for freezing until half frozen.

Remove from freezer. Finish filling with the blue or purple juice. Put into freezer until frozen solid. After they are totally frozen put in plastic freezer bags until you eat them with a friend.  Peel of the paper cups before you eat them
