Cooking is fun! Learning to cook is a great way to spend time with your family and learn a skill that you will always enjoy. This month brings you some recipes kids just like you sent into me to share with others.

            Be sure and send in your favorite recipe. Look at the end of the column for instructions. Happy cooking.

Sam's Nachos

You will need:

·         nacho chips

·         shredded cheese

·         salsa

1. Place nacho chips on a cookie sheet. 

2. Put a dab of your favorite salsa on each chip. 

3. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of the chips.

4. Turn the oven on broil.

5. Place under boiler for approximately 30 – 40 seconds. Just until cheese melts.

6. Remove from oven and cool just a minute. ADULT SUPERVISION REQUIRED!

Brain Freeze

What you need:

·         A blender

·         ice cream

·         chocolate syrup

·         1/2 cup ice

·          1 - 2 cups of milk

Put the ice cream, ice and chocolate syrup in the blender.  The amount of chocolate syrup depends on how chocolate you like it. Pour the milk in but don't make it too milky. Blend until thick and creamy to drink. YUM.

Happy Face Sandwich

 Ingredients:

  • Peanut Butter
  • Bananas -sliced
  • Raisins
  • bread (1 slice)
  • M &M's candy

Directions: Spread the peanut butter on the slice of bread. Next, put 2 banana circles on the bread to look like eyes. Then use a raisin as a nose. Last, make your mouth out of M & M's candy.

APPLE SMILES

·        1 red apple

·        cream cheese

1. Core and slice apples.

2. Spread cream cheese on apple slices

3. Put two apple slices together, put on a plate with skin side showing and eat.

Famous Hawaiian Nana Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of “Lil Smokies” sausages
  • 2 cups of large chunk pineapple
  • 2 cups of BBQ sauce (your favorite)
  • 1 red bell pepper (1/2 cut in strips for garnish, the other ˝ in 1” squares) (optional)

 What you do:

1. Mix ingredients together in a sauce pan, bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.

2. Serve in a flat bowl garnished with strips of red peppers.

 Cat's Eyes

·        Bananas

  • Ritz crackers

  • peanut butter

  • raisins

1. Slice your bananas at an angle so that they are long ovals, not  round. 

2. Spread your Ritz crackers with peanut butter and  place the banana slices on top. 

3. Put a dab of peanut butter on your raisins and place in the center of each banana. 

These are very messy to make, but they taste great.

Golf Club Sundae- 

What you'll need  

  • any kind of ice cream

  • Reese's peanut butter cups

  • small dish

  • nuts  

  • shredded chocolate

           What you do-   

1.  First, put a few scoops of ice-cream into your dish.

2.  Put your Reese's cup into a small bag a crunch it into smaller pieces with a spoon.

3. Sprinkle Crunched Reese's cup, nuts, or shredded chocolate onto ice cream.

4. Grab a spoon and wolf it down, but don't get an ice cream headache.

Philly Shake

  • 1 banana

  • 1cup of milk

 

1. Put ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

2. Pour in a cup and drink
