Jell-O Fun 

            There is nothing more fun for dessert or snack time then a dessert made with Jell-O - fun to eat, fun to touch and fun for kids to make themselves. Here is a batch of wiggly, jiggly and colorful recipes for kids of all ages. Kids, remember, when using the stove or handling hot foods be sure and have an adult supervise or help you.

Make a Jello Aquarium
 
·        1 small package (pckg.) Jell-O Berry BLUE 
·        1 cup (c.) Boiling water
·        2 cup (c.)  Ice cubes
·        Gummy Fish
               Dissolve the jello in boiling water. Stir well to make sure it all dissolves. Add ice cubes, stirring 
until jello thickens. This can take a few minutes. Remove any unmelted ice. Spoon the jello into to clear 
sided bowls or cups. Put several gummy fish into the slightly thickened jello. Refrigerate 30 minutes to one
 hour to set. 

Frozen Jell-o Pops

  • 2 cups (c.) boiling water
  • 1 small box of jell-o, any flavor
  • 1/2 cup (c.) sugar
  • 2 cups (c.) cold water
  • small paper cups or popsicle molds

Put jell-o and sugar into a medium size bowl. Stir boiling water into the jell-o and sugar until completely
dissolved, stirring about two minutes.  Stir in cold water. Pour into molds or paper cups. Put in freezer
to harden. When halfway frozen put a Popsicle stick in each cup for a stick. Let freeze at least 8 hours.

Pastel Cookies

  • 3/4 cup shortening (Crisco)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 small package  fruit flavored Jello
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (tsp.) vanilla
  • 2-1/2 cups  all purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)  salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon (tsp.)  baking powder

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix shortening, sugar, gelatin Jello),eggs and
vanilla in bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients. Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls
 Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass that has been
dipped in sugar. Bake 6-8 minutes. You can dip them in powder sugar when they
are done or decorate with icing.

Makes about 5 dozen.

Jell-O Cones
 
·        1 package gelatin powder, any flavor
·        1 cup water -- boiling
·        1 cup cold water
·        4 flat bottom ice cream cones
·        1/2 cup whipped topping -- thawed
               Dissolve gelatin in boiling water; add cold water and chill in bowl until set, about two hours
 or so. Spoon set Jello into cones. Top with whipped cream and sprinkles
Serve at once.

Jello Rainbow Cake

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 2 small packages of jello (3 oz) any flavor
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 container of  cool whip, thawed (8 oz)

Bake cake mix as directed on package. You can use two different flavors of jello if making two round cakes but only use one flavor if making one rectangle cake. You can remove from the pans to cool and then put the cake back in the pan or simply leave it in there.

Using a wooden spoon handle, poke holes evenly spaced across the top of the cake. Dissolve each flavor separately in 1 cup boiling water if making two.
Carefully pour e the gelatin over the cake making sure to cover the whole cake.
       Chill 3-4 hours in the refrigerator. Top with about 1 cup cool
whip. Keep refrigerator.

 Strawberry Ice Cream Cake

  • 4 1/2-5 cups  Angel food cake-cut in cubes
  • 1 package (pkg.) 3oz. Vanilla instant pudding
  • 1 cup  Milk
  • 1 pint (pt.) Vanilla ice cream , softened
  • 1 small box Strawberry jello
  • 1 1/2 cup  boiling water
  • 11 ounces (oz.) frozen strawberries

Put cake cubes into a rectangular shaped pan about 9"x9". Mix the pudding & milk in bowl, add ice cream & beat until well blended. Pour over cake & set in fridge until firm. Dissolve jello in water & add strawberries. Stir until thickened, pour over pudding layer. Chill until set.

Jello Jigglers

  • Jell-O – any flavor you want

Make the jello according to the package directions but only use HALF the amount of water the recipe tells you to put in. Pour into a shallow dish and use cooking cutters to cut out shapes. Eat with your fingers.
